Designing a CO2 Reuse Prize for Europe
Carbon Counts is leading a consortium tasked by the European Commission to design an Inducement Prize in the field of CO2 Reuse. The technologies of interest involve capturing CO2 - typically from anthropogenic sources such as power plant flue gases - and using it in processes to make various industrial and consumer products. The subject is gaining wider interest in Europe at present because of its potential to contribute to a number of key policy areas, including energy, climate change and industrial innovation.
On 25 March, we held a technical workshop to discuss prize design issues and options, drawing on experts from across the European Union, and we continue to work on the design concepts and approaches.
